Celebrate The Diamond Jubilee in Cromhall
1952–2012: Celebrating 60 years of The Queen’s reign...
Queen Elizabeth II came to the throne on 6th February 1952 and her coronation took place on 2nd June 1953.
She celebrated her Silver Jubilee (25 Years) in 1977 and her Golden Jubilee (50 Years) in 2002.
The only other British monarch to celebrate a Diamond Jubilee was Queen Victoria, in 1897.
National celebrations for the Diamond Jubilee will be from Saturday 2nd June to Tuesday 5th June.

Cromhall Parish Council is keen to ensure that Cromhall participates in the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and meetings are being held to arrange a series of events, with something to appeal for everyone in the village - young and old!

Cromhall's Diamond Jubilee Oak Tree
On Saturday 3rd March 2012 in the early morning sunshine – Parish Councillor Tim Johnson (aided by his son James) and Sue and Mark Wray (with Clerk Hannah Saunders behind the lens) planted a British Oak Tree in the Playing Fields behind St Andrews School.
This was agreed by Parish Council and Tortworth Estate as part of Cromhall's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.
Planting took place in March as this is the best time of year to plant – in June a plaque will be unveiled.

Cromhall celebrates Victoria's Jubilee?
The photograph at the top of this page, kindly supplied by David Wicks, is of a Cromhall group he thinks will have been the celebration of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, judging by the clothes.
The only person whose identity David knows for certain is the man with the boater and whiskers third from the right on the back row. He is William Kimber who used to farm at Talbots End and was a relative. He was the father of Billy Kimber, who some residents may remember, and father in law of Edith Kimber who will be remembered for certain by many villagers.
The man next to him, similarly dressed may be Robert Wicks, who also farmed at Talbots End and was his brother in law.
The bowler hats and tartan ribbons suggest the date would be about right, a little later there would be more caps evident. The only cap here is worn by one of the boys, who have been playing cricket.
David wonders who the character is who is wearing a top hat and looks like he was 'photoshopped' in! He wasn't, honest! There are some wonderful faces, it would be great to know who they were.
They are in front of the sort of marquee we have always hired for flower shows, of course, but this is before the flower shows started.
The photo turned up for the Cromhall village exhibition at Thornbury museum, but it's not known who lent it.
Can you help put any names to faces? If so, please email us:
