Professor Mark Horton, historical archaeologist and presenter of the BBC’s ‘Coast’ series, takes us behind the scenes and offers first-hand experiences of his BBC career during an exclusive evening event.
The highly successful programme ‘Coast’ has run for 8 series on BBC2 since starting in 2007 and has travelled the length and breadth of the country discovering the secrets of the UK coast line. The programme discovers stories and settings that make each place they visit unique through their history, archaeology and landscapes.

Mark was also involved in the Channel 4 programme ‘Time Team’ and the BBC programme ‘Time Flyers’. As a trustee of Dr Jenner’s House he concerns himself with how the collection and history of Jenner’s 300 year old house and grounds are conserved and presented to the public. He recently presented the documentary ‘Jenner’s Marvelous Medicine’ aired as part of the BBC History of World Series which examines the story of Jenner’s life and also his research into smallpox.
Mark has lived in Wotton under Edge for several years and is passionate about the area. He stated “It’s a great opportunity to support two fantastic charities and be able to give something back to the local community”
