The Royal Oak

The Royal Oak is Cromhall's best place to meet and chat over a quick drink or a relaxing meal.

Adam, Sally and the team are ready behind the bar with a large selection of drinks, including three real ales, three real ciders and many different wines.

They'll prepare and cook fresh food for you, including traditional Sunday lunches for £6.95 and a wide selection of daily specials.

Try their speciality dish of sausages and mash, with sausages from Perry and Sons - award-winning butchers in Alveston, and three choices of mash.

Cheer yourself up during Happy Hour between 5 and 7pm every Friday, or add a little spice to your Wednesday nights with Curry and a Pint for £6.95.

Check out the new touch screen jukebox, free to use between 9-12pm on Saturdays.

The Royal Oak

The Royal Oak has modern facilities such as live football and rugby on Sky, as well as a pool table and darts, but the attractive timbered building is listed, and dates from 1674.

There were inns on the site from much earlier than that - there's a Jacobean fireplace and the fresh spring well in front of the bar is thought to be mediaeval.

A diver went down to explore the well in 1999, but the dive wasn't a success - he hit a grille and modern debris just 15 feet down, so the well is keeping its secrets for now.

Near the entrance to the Royal Oak, you'll see a collection of ancient shoes which are said to keep evil spirits away from the pub.

Do they work? Judge for yourself next time you pop in.
